Same-day pickup of old appliances — from anywhere inside your home, with upfront all-inclusive pricing.
Old appliance pick up is a service where a professional team removes unwanted appliances — refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers, and more — directly from inside your home or business, then recycles, donates, or responsibly disposes of them. 1-800-RID-OF-IT provides this service across Toronto and the GTA, usually on the same day you call.

How Our Old Appliance Pickup Works
Getting rid of an old appliance takes four simple steps:
- Book your pickup. Call 1-800-743-6348 or schedule online. Same-day and next-day slots are available across Toronto and the GTA.
- Get a courtesy call. Our crew phones you 30 minutes before arrival, so you’re never stuck waiting around.
- Approve your upfront price. We assess the appliance on-site and give you one all-inclusive price — labour, loading, disposal, and recycling fees included. No hidden charges, even if your job has changed since booking.
- We do all the lifting. Our team removes the appliance from wherever it sits — basement, kitchen, condo unit, upper floor — protects your floors and doorways, loads it onto our truck, and sweeps the area before leaving.
You don’t need to move anything to the curb. We handle disconnected appliances of any size, in any location inside your property.
Appliances We Pick Up
We remove virtually every household and commercial appliance, including:
- Refrigerators and freezers (including units containing freon — see below)
- Washing machines and dryers (stacked and side-by-side units)
- Stoves, ovens, ranges, and cooktops (gas and electric — must be disconnected)
- Dishwashers (freestanding and built-in)
- Microwaves and small kitchen appliances
- Hot water heaters and tanks
- Air conditioners and dehumidifiers
- Built-in and commercial-grade appliances
Not sure whether we’ll take your item? Call 1-800-743-6348 — if it’s non-hazardous, we almost certainly will.
What About Fridges and Freezers With Freon?
Yes — we pick up refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners that contain refrigerant (freon). Under Ontario regulations, refrigerants must be recovered by certified technicians before an appliance can be scrapped or recycled. When we remove your fridge or freezer, we ensure the refrigerant is properly recovered, and the unit is recycled through licensed facilities, so you stay fully compliant without lifting a finger. Learn more on our Freon Removal page.
How Much Does Old Appliance Pickup Cost in Toronto?
The cost of old appliance pickup in Toronto is based on how much space your items take up in our truck — not on hourly rates or per-kilometre charges. A single appliance is priced individually, while multiple appliances are priced by combined volume, which usually works out cheaper per item. You receive one upfront, all-inclusive quote on-site before any work begins, covering labour, loading, disposal, and recycling fees.
| What affects your price |
Why it matters |
| Number of appliances |
Multiple items share truck space, lowering the per-item cost |
| Size and weight |
Commercial or built-in units may need extra crew members |
| Location in your home |
Basement or upper-floor removals take more time and care |
| Curbside vs. in-home |
Curbside pickups qualify for a 10% discount |
Your price is confirmed on-site before any work begins, and it’s all-inclusive — labour, disposal, and recycling fees are covered. There’s nothing extra to pay afterwards, and there’s no obligation: if the quote doesn’t work for you, you don’t pay a thing. For a ballpark estimate before we arrive, call 1-800-743-6348 and describe your appliance — our team can give you an idea of cost over the phone. You can also review our volume-based rates on our Pricing page.
Tip: Getting rid of more than one item? Bundle your old appliance with other junk — furniture, e-waste, renovation debris — into a single pickup and pay by volume instead of per item.
Should You Use City Collection or a Pickup Service?
The City of Toronto and most GTA municipalities collect certain large appliances curbside, and that option can cost less. So which is right for you?
Choose municipal collection if you can wait for your area’s scheduled collection date, you’re able to move the appliance to the curb yourself, and your item qualifies under your city’s program rules (refrigerant-containing units often have special requirements — check your municipality’s current guidelines).
Choose 1-800-RID-OF-IT if you need the appliance gone today, it’s too heavy or awkward to move yourself, it’s inside a condo or upper floor, you have multiple items, or you want confirmation that the unit is recycled or donated rather than landfilled.
Most of our appliance pickup customers call us for one reason: they don’t want a dead fridge sitting in the kitchen for two weeks waiting for a collection date — and they don’t want to wrestle 300 lbs of steel down the stairs.
Why Toronto Homeowners Choose Us for Appliance Removal
We’ve done this thousands of times. Since 2002, our crews have hauled appliances out of nearly every kind of property in the GTA — post-war bungalows with narrow basement stairs, downtown condos with strict elevator booking rules, and commercial kitchens with built-in equipment. That experience means fewer scratched floors, no dinged doorframes, and no surprises.
We know your building’s rules. Condo and apartment removals are our specialty. We book elevators, respect parking and loading-dock restrictions, and coordinate with property managers so removals go smoothly.
Award-winning, locally operated service. We’re a Toronto company based at 246 Pacific Ave.—not a franchise call centre. Our commitment to exceptional service has earned us the HomeStars Best of the Best Award and a 4.9/5 HomeStars rating based on more than 1,092 customer reviews, reflecting the trust we’ve built with homeowners and businesses across the GTA.
Your appliance gets a second life whenever possible. Working appliances are donated to our community partners. Non-working units are broken down for scrap-metal recycling, with refrigerants recovered by certified technicians and hazardous components diverted from landfill.
