The company was started by a number of University of British Columbia students looking to create an entrepreneurial summer job in the early nineties. At that time, the founders had no idea of the concept's real potential and the business growth that it would generate. In retrospect, while we had tons of unencumbered energy and spirit, it was an entourage of experienced mentors that truly fueled our success.

That is why 1-800 RID-OF-IT^® Junk Removal is a proud to sponsor various University entrepreneurial endeavors across the country. It brings us back to our roots, and reminds us of how important it was to have friends, family, and mentors guide us through the critical early stages of our business.

1-800 RID-OF-IT^® Junk Removal has been proud to be serving the Toronto area since 2000. In recent years the Toronto Company has been operated by Rick Crawford. Rick is a graduate of York University. Also in addition to being one of Canada’s most professional Trashbusters, Rick is also a Toronto Firefighter and Ski Patroller at Georgian Peaks. Rick also takes great pride in giving back to his Toronto community and organizes a number of charity and neighborhood appreciation events each year. (See the Community section for more details).
